Eagle River, Wis. (Vilas County) -- May 16, 2011:

Northerns hitting well, with walleyes, smallmouth bass (catch and release only), crappies and perch providing good action in the Eagle River, Wisconsin area. Surface temps are in the low to mid 50s in the Eagle River area.

Wausau/Central Wisconsin Area: May 16, 2011

Smallmouth bass on their beds, with crappies, bluegills and walleyes hitting; and wild turkey hunters still getting birds as the season winds down; all in and amidst the lakes and the Wisconsin River of Wisconsin's Marathon and Lincoln Counties (near Mosinee and Wausau).

Border View Lodge - Lake of the Woods: 015 May 2011:

The opener is finally here and, as expected, it was a good weekend. Most anglers bagged limits of walleyes. The river seemed to be holding mostly smaller males, while the lake and four-mile bay had a mix of males and females. Mornings and evenings have been the best.
